Netcong Reading Class Blog

     We have been discussing ballads in class.  Ballads are usually based on love, tragedy, or an event based in history.  Locate a ballad that has special meaning for you.  Write a summary on the ballad you chose and respond to what impressed you about it.

In the preface of The Pearl, John Steinbeck suggests that the story may be a parable, each person deriving meaning based on his or her own life experiences.  A parable is a brief story that teaches a moral or religious lesson.  Review other parables and pick one that has special meaning for you and summarize it.  Discuss why this parable is meaningful to you.

Welcome to our reading class blog. 

I am very excited to begin our blogging experience in the eighth grade.  Blogging will enable us to extend our reading responses beyond the classroom and allow us to communicate about the texts we read in class.
